Makeup brushes are an indispensable tool in our daily makeup. If you have a sufficient budget, please prioritize well-known brands’ products when purchasing. When purchasing cosmetic brushes from famous brands, they will require manufacturers to provide necessary product tests. These tests help you screen out products of superior quality, check the durability of makeup brushes, and ensure product safety.
For example, salt spray testing can check whether the electrode oxide layer of the ferrule meets the production specifications and whether it is easy to rust.
1. Why do we need a salt spray test?
The salt spray test is to check the quality of the ferrule. As we all know, the ferrule is made of aluminum or copper, and the surface of the ferrule needs to be anodized, electroplated, painted, and other processes to meet the color requirements of the purchaser. If you place it or use it for some time, you may find that some cosmetic brush ferrules will rust, especially copper cosmetic brush ferrules that are easy to rust, which is a metal oxidation phenomenon. Therefore, we must check whether the ferrule’s quality is qualified before producing cosmetic brushes.
2. Salt spray test
The salt spray test is one of the most extensive and standard corrosion test methods. A salt spray test is an environmental test that mainly uses artificially simulated salt spray environmental conditions created by salt spray test equipment to assess the corrosion resistance of products or metal materials. The artificial simulation salt spray environment test uses test equipment with a particular volume space – the salt spray test chamber. It uses synthetic methods in its volume space to create a salt spray environment to assess the quality of the product’s corrosion resistance.
Compared with the natural environment, the salt concentration of chloride in the salt spray environment can be several or dozens of times that of the general natural environment salt spray content, significantly increasing the corrosion rate. The salt spray test is carried out on the product, and the results are obtained. The time is also considerably shortened. For example, suppose a product sample is tested in a natural exposure environment. In that case, it may take 1 year for it to rust, but it only takes 24 hours to obtain a similar result when tested in an artificially simulated salt spray environment.
3. Check the test results
When the room temperature drops to a suitable room temperature, and there is no fog, the product can be taken out, rinse the product surface with warm water not higher than 38 degrees Celsius for 1 minute, then blow off the product surface with an air gun, put it at room temperature, and wear clean cotton Quality gloves, check the appearance of the sample to be tested under 1000LUX light, and evaluate the results of the salt spray test. The evaluation of test results varies according to the requirements of different standards.
4. What are the necessary tests in OEM or ODM makeup brushes?
Many makeup brush buyers only pay attention to the product’s price, practicality, or appearance before purchasing. Of course, this is the rights and interests of each buyer and one of the means to expand their brand, but they often ignore many necessary test items. As a result, the quality of the makeup brushes they purchased could have been better.
To this end, we have compiled some necessary testing items for your reference:
*.Acid-base test
*.Drop test
*. Vibration test of product packaging
*.Cosmetics brush pull-out testing
*.Temperature And Humidity Test On Handle And Glue
