Beautiful and well-groomed eyebrows & eyelashes are the ultimate beauty goals for many people! And it doesn’t matter whether you have bushy brows or lighter ones, all of them deserve your love, so pay attention!
Once you know how to do it right, getting those awe-inspiring eyebrows and eyelashes is a piece of cake!
But first things first! Before we go any further, we have to know what it means to groom your eyebrows and eyelashes. The steps it includes and the tools you might need!
For Eyebrows
The defined arches that can give an envy-inducing look to your makeup is not hard to achieve at home by yourself.
Follow the tips below to get the dreamy eyebrows you deserve to have!
Tip 1: Tweezing
Ah, the most painful and irritating first step! Tweezing can be difficult, especially when you’re doing it to yourself. But you know what makes it easier? Just a hot bath!
Seriously, just get into a hot shower before you start tweezing. This will help open up your pores and make it easier to pluck out the hair.
Alternatively, you can also use steam to open up your pores. Trust me; this will make everything a lot less painful and much easier!
Once you have prepared yourself and your skin for the tweezing, align your eyebrow shape using a brow pencil. Don’t miss this step if you want perfect arches!
Tip 2: Alignment
To align your brows, use a brow pencil as a small measuring tool. Remember, your eyebrow should begin right above the beginning of your nostrils.
Hold the eyebrow pencil next to your nostrils and see where it lands on your eyebrows – that’s the beginning of your arches.
The next step is finding the arch point – for this, angle your brow pencil from the tips of your nose to across your pupils. Here, you will find the arch of your eyebrows.
Now, place the eyebrow pencil against the end of your eye and nose in a straight line at an angle. Where the pencil ends, that’s where the tail of brows should be.
Tip 3: Trim your eyebrows
Trimming your eyebrows is as essential as any other step!
Use a good quality lash comb/brow groomer to brush the eyebrow hair upwards. Now trim the uneven hair to make your eyebrows look even shaped.
Next, comb your brows downward and trim the uneven and stray hair that is standing out. Avoid over-trimming – or you’ll regret it! Just the uneven, stray hair needs to be trimmed.
Tip 4: Filling in
Now comes the most awaited step – it’s here that you will either make or break your eyebrow game completely!
While some people have naturally beautiful and dense eyebrows, not all of us are that blessed! And this is where filling in will help.
Start out by picking the right color for your eyebrows and then the right brush! Apply the product in the direction of your hair growth and stick to the arch where hair is denser. Don’t fill in the edges or beginnings too much – eyebrows are lighter in those parts!
Tip 5: Pick the right brush!
One of the biggest mistakes people make happens in the selection of the right makeup brushes. Not every brush will meet every need!
Let’s follow the advice of Neelam Holmes, founder of Eyebrow Queen, to see what brushes are best for your purpose!
Fine-tooth metal comb: This will give your eyebrows a fluffed up and laminated look without disturbing your makeup.
Fine angled brush: Best used for applying eyebrow shadows.
Flat square brush: Use this for covering up makeup mistakes and highlighting your brows by applying concealer/highlighter.
Spoolie brush: The most used standalone eyebrow brush. This is your best pick for applying eyebrow gels, mascaras, and brushing your eyebrows.
For Eyelashes
Eyelashes are the scariest part to groom, especially if you are a beginner. They are so close to your beautiful eyes, after all!
But again, all you need is the right information to know what it means to groom your eyelashes properly. So let’s start!
Tip 1: Get done with eye makeup
Before you start grooming your eyelashes, you should make sure of one thing that you are completely done with the rest of your eye makeup for the sake of convenience.
Tip 2: Curl your lashes
Curl your lashes using a curler if you want them to look longer and outstanding.
Never, I repeat, NEVER curl your eyelashes after applying mascara as it can break your lashes and damage them in the long run!
Tip 3: Apply the primer
Applying the primer will not only help your mascara to stay on longer but also keep your lashes conditioned and prevent them from drying out.
Once you’ve applied the primer, wait for 10-15 minutes before applying mascara.
Tip 4: Apply the mascara
Before you apply the mascara, swirl your mascara wand and ensure there isn’t an extra product in the brush.
Now apply the first coat starting at the roots and then wiggle the brush back and forth.
Wait for another 15 seconds before you apply each additional coat as per your liking.
Tip 5: Use an eyelash brush
Why might you need an eyelash brush at the end of your makeup? To prevent that clumpy eyelash looks everyone dislikes!
Once your mascara has safely dried, use an eyelash brush over your lashes lightly. It will help you avoid messy looks and keep your lashes feeling lighter and gorgeous!
Maintain your lashes and brows!
Using makeup is all fun and cool but what’s even cooler is removing them before bed! Makeup can clog your pores and cause several skin problems.
Eyelashes are more vulnerable to damage than eyebrows, and you must take care of them if you use makeup on them regularly.
Always remember to remove all the traces of makeup from your lashes and brows before going to bed.
To keep healthy lashes in the long run, make it a habit to brush your lashes and brows on a regular basis – especially if you are a frequent makeup user.
Brushing your eyelashes and brows using a lash comb/brow groomer will help in the removal of any residual makeup clumps from your lashes.
So maintain healthy habits to stay gorgeous!
